Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare has revealed that a meeting is currently ongoing to come up with a protocol for booster doses to tackle the virus.
He made the revelation on 3FM’s First Take with Dzifa Bampoh on Tuesday January 4.
“We are having a meeting to come up with a protocol for booster doses. This will be announced in due time,” he said.
He reiterated the government’s quest to inoculate at least twenty million people.
“We want to vaccinate at least 20 million people. The government will bring in lots of vaccines for the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, a directive to disallow persons without vaccine card from accessing government buildings has commenced today, Tuesday January 4 2021.
TV3’s Sarah Apenkroh who was at the premises of the MoH on Tuesday reported that some persons, although vaccinated but left their cards at home, were refused access to the office.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) declared the month of December last year as the vaccination month.
Director-General at the GHS, Dr Patrick Kumah-Aboagye speaking at a press conference in Accra on Sunday November 28 2021 said vaccination was the surest way to deal with the virus.
He further assured that the authorities are going to scale up surveillance measures at the Kotoka International Airport during the Christmas season to ensure that Covid infections do not increase.
He further said that the mistakes that were made in December last year which occasioned the escalation of infections in January this year, will not be repeated.
There is going to be a “strict enforcement of the protocols at the KIA. We are going to increase surveillance. We are expecting increased number of people to arrive in the country.
“we are going to ensure that our logistics are prepared, we will continue our surveilance to be able to look at that, we are going to look at isolation centres,” he said.
He added “Our contact tracing will be strengthened.
“We are going to engage with religious organizations to ensure that activities in done in Christmas are in accordance with Covid protocols.”
