The Ghana Education Service has announced a new set of dates for the reopening of public basic schools and second cycle institutions across the country for the 2022 academic year.
According to a press release issued by GES, dated January 12, 2022 students in SHS 3 and SHS 2 are expected to return to school on Monday, 7th February, 2022 while the academic year for SHS 1 students is expected to commence on Monday, 4th April, 2022 (tentative).
For the basic schools, that is those in JHS 1-3, Primary 1-6 and KG 1-2 are all expected to return to school on Tuesday, 18th January, 2022.
This follows an approval by the Minister for Education upon the recommendation of the Ministerial Committee on Schools’ Calender.
The statement stated further that, “the full calendar for the 2022 Academic Year for pre-tertiary public schools will be made available at various media platforms, MoE/GES websites and other social media handles.”
